Summer’s Here (In Case You Hadn’t Noticed)

I’m delighted to have a new poem accepted. You can read it here, but you have to scroll down to the bottom of the page. I’m even more delighted to have discovered a new market for light verse. Not new, really, but new to me. Lighten Up Online has been around for nearly 20 years. You can sample all the issues from their website, here. Now, in addition to Light, a Journal of Light Verse, I have another way to enjoy all my favorite wry, sarcastic, sly, irreverant writers. Melissa Balmain is always at the top of my list, but there are so many more. Having a laugh can help us through all our tough times, even the summer scorchers. Try it.

We feel it here too! I keep thinking I’m going thru hot flashes again, but more likely it is just the damp heat. Or the damn heat. Hard to please us humans. Too cold, too hot, too much rain…

At the moment piano is what sustains me. Did enter some poems in the CBC contest but that a huge barrel of submissions of the best; it was more the exercise of actually choosing 3, I think, and sending them in.

Read any good books? My best recently is still Toni Morrison’s “Sula” The writing is generously peppered with brilliance. Then tried “Tar Baby” and hated it. So there you go. Consistency is a tough goal.

Just living seems to take a lot of time?? And that’s a good thing surely. Hi to you two.Fun memories of our time together. (Was sorry to hear Chris’ wife was ill.)

    xoxo

Speaking of bugs I have silverfish presently and they give me the shivers big time! The cat nearly killed the obvoxious pigeon who comes to the balcony and for that moment I felt sorry for the bird I have hated for months. I pulled the cat off and he/she flew off, but Bandit’s attack was that of a gladiator! A side I hadn’t seen.
